Old School Methods Of Driver Programs Failing In Companies And Corporations In The United States
Training given to new employees by their own employers is usually informal, unprofessional and ineffective.
It may consist of only a few hours of instruction from an experienced vehicle operator; sometimes on the new employee's own time.
New vehicle operators might also ride with and observe older vehicle operators before assignment of their own runs.
Some companies give 1 to 2 days of classroom instruction covering general duties; including the operation and loading and unloading a van, bus, or truck.
Company policies and preparation of delivery forms and company records are also part of the training.
Vehicle Operators/sales workers also receive training on the various types of consumers they transport. However, its unfortunate that all the training does not cover professional driver behavior.
Most new company vehicle operators are assigned immediately to regular driving jobs
Some vehicle operators start as extra operators, substituting for regular ones who are ill or on vacation.
They receive a regular assignment when an opening occurs. Driver Safety is overlooked and the future of the company and the safety of the company's workers and consumers is extremely jeopardized.
